Chipotle Sorghum Sliders

1 cup of cooked whole or pearled sorghum grain
¼ cup of refried beans
1 large egg
¾ cup of rice cracker crumbs
2 tablespoons of chopped chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
1 additional tablespoon of adobo sauce
½ teaspoon of liquid smoke
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
¼ teaspoon of onion powder
½ cup of diced mushrooms

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Spray a large baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.

  3. Combine sorghum, refried beans, egg, cracker crumbs, chipotle peppers, liquid smoke, garlic powder, onion powder and mushrooms in a large bowl until well mixed. Divide the mixture into patties by placing approximately 1/8 cup of the mixture into hands and forming it into a tight ball. Place each ball onto the baking sheet. Press the balls with the palm of your hand to flatten into the shape of a patty.

  4. Bake the patties for 20 minutes or until golden brown on each side.
